TO THE UNIVERSITY, BLINDERN

To reach the University of Blindern, you can take the metro lines 4 and 5 to “Blindern”, or the tram 17 and 18 “Rikshospitalet” from the city centre. The metro departs from both “Nationaltheateret”, “Stortinget” and “Jernbanetorget”, while the tram departs from “Jernbanetorget” and “Holbergs plass”. You can locate all of these, as well as get directions to them and the best travel route for you, by searching for “Blindern” or “University of Oslo” in the Ruter App. Tickets are also purchased through the app.

You can of course also bike or walk to the conference venue. Please see Local Transportation, for more ways to travel through Oslo.

TO THE UNIVERSITY AULA

The welcome reception will be held at the University Aula on Karl Johan Street, in the city centre. The easiest way to reach the aula from Blindern, is to take the metro two stops towards the city centre, and depart at “Nationaltheateret”. The Aula is just a few minutes walking distance from here. The aula is also in walking distance from all the hotels recommended by us.

TO THE NORWEGIAN MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

The EAHMH book prize ceremony and the conference dinner will be held at the Norwegian Museum og Science and Technology. The easiest way to get from the University of Oslo, Blindern, to the museum, is to walk to “John Collets plass” and take bus 25 “Lørenskog stasjon” to the stop called “Kjelsås stasjon”. The museum is just across the road from the bus stop. For the route, please look here.

The same bus will take you back to the city centre, and stop at “Majorstua”, when the evening is over. All metro lines connect at Majorstua, making it easy to travel on, both if you’re going back to your accomodation and if you are continuing the evening out.

The boat will depart from the city hall piers, for the boat trip on Friday September 1st. The easiest way to reach the city hall piers, is by taking the metro to “Nationaltheateret” station, from Blindern. From there, it is a 10-15 minute long walk down, passing right by the City Hall.

The boat leaves from Rådhus Brygge 3. You can locate this on Google maps. Please have your ticket ready!
