SUBMISSION FORMATS AND INSTRUCTIONS

The EAHMH board and the Local Organizing committee will be working to put together an exciting program. We seek four kinds of submissions. Please make sure that all required fields are filled out, and check that you have recieved a confirmation email from the system after having submitted.

Panel submissions

Panels consist of three individual papers and a discussant (or four individual papers and no discussant) addressing a common theme. If you have an idea for a panel and are seeking members, please email us as soon as possible and we will put your suggestion on our OPEN PANELS BOARD. If you already have a panel with assigned members, submit a proposal for the panel, and include the email adresses of the individual speakers when prompted to do so in the portal (after you have used the submit button). Each individual speaker in the panel (including the organizer) should submit an individual paper abstract (see below), and will be able to choose the panel after they have submitted the abstract.

Individual papers

Papers in this category should represent original scholarship that is not already published. A paper presentation must be no more than 20 minutes in length, as it will be followed by an additional 10 minutes for discussion. Individual paper submissions will be organized by the program committee and scheduled into 90 minutes sessions. Before submitting your individual paper, check the OPEN PANELS BOARD to see whether there might be a proposal for a panel that your contribution fits with. If you are part of a panel your panel moderator will invite you to attach your abstract to the panel within the portal.

The submission requires a title and abstract (max 250 words), as well as the participant’s name, affiliation and email address (including the names of possible co-authors).

Are you a PhD student, member of the EAHMH, and want to be considered for the Pieter van Foreest Student Prize? In that case, please indicate so in your abstract. For more information, please look here.

Roundtable

Roundtables are intended to address topics of broad interest, such as historiography, teaching, research methods, and advocacy. The 45-minute sessions have a flexible format and should include various presenters, but also need to leave ample room for a discussion with the audience. Only one abstract has to be submitted by the organizer of the roundtable, but the organizer must make sure that the participants have confirmed their participation. We encourage roundtables that engage with urgent scholarly issues, which are interdisciplinary in character and use formats that are better supported here than in more traditional panel sessions.

The submission requires a title and abstract (max 500 words, including a description of the other participants in the roundtable).

Poster and mixed media session

We invite suggestions for a poster and a mixed media session. These may include flashtalks, presentation of short films (3–5 mins), presentations of outreach activities (e.g., game, exhibit), digitization or medical heritage projects or activist interventions.

The submission for the Poster and Mixed Media Session requires a title and 250 word abstract, as well as the participant’s name, affiliation and email address (including of possible co-authors); it should also include the specification of technical and/or space requirements. Individuals are allowed only one submission for the Poster and Mixed Media Presentation.
